Cruise the Mediterranean

It is widely thought that modern civilization was begun along the shores of Southern Europe – from the start of science and democracy to viticulture and art. You can discover the history of the “Old World” along its shores. It will be difficult going home again once you have laid on the beaches of Italy and Spain, gone to the historical sights of Jerusalem and Greece, and seen the incredible scenery of the Greek Islands and Santorini. There is no other destination in the world like Rome, with its ancient Colosseum and Pantheon, or Vatican City, home of the Pope and St. Peter’s basilica. Enthusiasts of architectural design will enjoy a stop in Barcelona to see Antoni Gaudi’s extraordinary work. Wine lovers will want to spend time in the famous wine regions of Chianti in Italy, Port in Portugal, and Provence in France. Stroll along the beautiful waterways in Venice. Those traveling along Croatia’s Adriatic coast go to my blog will want to stop in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Dubrovnik, with its ancient walls surrounding the city still largely complete. A tour through Europe will make you wish you had studied history more in school.
